Matcha Latte – Vegan & Easy 1

Matcha Latte – Vegan & Easy

Matcha latte has become increasingly popular in recent years. Matcha is considered an alternative to coffee and is a great change. In addition, the powder is said to have many health benefits. The matcha powder contains many secondary plant compounds as well as fiber and is even said to contribute to fat burning.

What Matcha is and how easy it is to prepare a Matcha Latte, you will learn in this article.

What Is Matcha?

Matcha is one of the oldest teas in Japan and is a ground green tea obtained from the Tencha tea variety, whose leaves are ground into a fine powder during production.

However, the production of the powder is very demanding and accounts for only a very small part of the world’s tea harvest, which is why the powder is not quite as cheap.

You should definitely pay attention to the quality before buying a matcha powder. This can be recognized, for example, by the color of the powder. If the matcha powder has a bright green color, this indicates good quality. In addition, good Matcha usually tastes sweetish-mild.

Matcha as an Alternative to Coffee

Matcha is often drunk as an alternative to coffee, as it also contains caffeine – but matcha has a different effect on the body. Due to the fact that the caffeine of the matcha powder is only released in the intestine, the effect is more lasting and is effective longer than with coffee.

In addition, matcha is said to promote brain function, be good for the liver, and contain many antioxidants, among other things.

That said, you should not drink more than two cups a day, as excessive consumption can sometimes lead to nausea and caffeine should also be enjoyed in moderation.

How To Prepare the Matcha Latte

Bring about 80 ml of water to a boil in a kettle or saucepan.

Put half a teaspoon of matcha powder in a bowl and pour the water over it. Stir with a bamboo whisk until the powder is completely dissolved.

Heat the vegetable milk and, if available, froth it with a milk frother.

Now first decant the plant drink into a glass (or cup). This is followed by the matcha mixture. And ready! Best to enjoy immediately.

Alternative Preparation (Without Bamboo Whisk)

If you don’t have a bamboo whisk at home, you can easily prepare your Matcha Latte without one – for example, with the help of a milk frother.

First, boil 1/4 cup of water in a kettle or saucepan.

Then add frothable plant milk to an electric milk frother. Then add 1/2 teaspoon of matcha powder.

If you like, add 1/2 teaspoon of birch sugar or similar. Now you can foam the whole thing.

Finally, pour the initially boiled water into a cup and add the matcha-milk mixture. Be careful not to use too much water. If you fill the cup with more than a quarter of the water, the end result will be too watery.

That’s it. Enjoy your vegan matcha latte!
