Cold Brew Coffee 1

Cold Brew Coffee

Since my time in the USA last year, I am an absolute Cold Brew fan! Especially now in the summer it is the perfect drink to cool down, because it tastes especially good with ice cubes.

Once prepared, you have up to 10 days something from it – of course, depending on your own coffee consumption per day.

The Cold Brew Coffee also has no calories, since it is “just coffee”. However, compared to normally prepared coffee, the Cold Brew Coffee has a milder taste – one more reason why I love this drink so much.

What Is Cold Brew Coffee?

Cold Brew Coffee is basically cold coffee. Unlike the traditional preparation with hot water, here the coffee is simply brewed with cold water.

Although this entails a longer brewing or preparation time, the coffee also has a longer shelf life. It also tastes milder and fruitier, because the cold water releases more aromas from the coffee instead of acidity and bitterness.

In addition, you don’t need any special coffee powder. I also just took what I already had at home and it tasted so far afterwards always 1 to 1 like the Cold Brew that I had drunk in the US.

How to prepare the cold brew coffee

After a little research, I found out that there are two different methods to make a delicious cold brew at home: The Cold Drip Method and the Full Immersion Method.

I have already used the latter a few times and have done very well with it, so I would like to introduce this method today.

Basically it’s super easy, you just need some time and patience!

  1. Fill 3.5 oz. (100 g) of coffee powder into a jug. Then add 34 fl. oz. (1000 ml) of water. Stir well, cover and leave overnight (or for about 12 hours) at room temperature (or in the refrigerator, of course!).
  2. Then stir the mixture again well, because the coffee grounds will have floated to the top.
  3. Now you need another jug and a hand filter (by the way, the whole thing also works with a French Press, but I personally do not have one at home and therefore the version with the hand filter has been the cheaper option for me).
Place the hand filter with additional coffee filter on the second pitcher and pour in the coffee mixture. It will not all go in at once. Here you need to be patient and add new coffee mixture bit by bit, which will take some time.
  4. When the coffee is through, you can enjoy it immediately. Best with ice cubes and who likes, can also add some milk or vegetable drink!

For me it is probably one of the best summer drinks! Once prepared you have a few days what of it and can comfortably pour your Cold Brew directly into the glass.

I always keep the Cold Brew in the fridge, so it stays chilled and fresh!
