Chocolate Vanilla Chia Pudding

Who does not know it? It just comes over you at times and you get a total craving for something sweet. But if you don’t want to reach for chocolate right away – which is perfectly legitimate from time to time, just to mention that by the way –, you should try this chocolate vanilla chia pudding.

Unlike the chocolate puddings that are found in large numbers in every supermarket, this homemade pudding does not require any translation tools to understand the list of ingredients. Not only does it do without any chemicals, but it will also provide you with important nutrients.

Chia seeds are full of omega-3 fatty acids and contain lots of plant protein. They also have a high percentage of dietary fiber and are therefore considered very good fillers.

Recommended Daily Dosage

However, the European Food Safety Authority recommends not to consume more than 1tbsp. (15 grams) of chia seeds per day, as this food has only been on the European market for some time.

However, this does not mean that if you eat more than 1 tbsp. (15 grams) of chia seeds a day, you should be afraid of food poisoning. Because it is so new to the European market, it has not yet been tested sufficiently for allergies, possible side effects or anything else that could harm the consumer.

The U.S. Department of Health is already a little more generous: 3 tbsp. + 1 tsp. (48 g) of chia seeds per day is the recommended amount.

An alternative would be flax seeds, by the way. Ultimately, however, chia seeds are a good variety in the diet.

The Pudding Consistency of Chia Seeds

If you add some water to the chia seeds, they change their consistency and become a gel. The weight of the seeds is increased nine to ten times, so they get a perfect pudding consistency.

How To Make the Chocolate Vanilla Chia Pudding

Put half of the chia seeds in a bowl and mix with the baking cocoa and the sweetener. Now add the pla nt based milk.

In a separate bowl, add the remaining chia seeds, a few drops of natural vanilla flavor and sweetener.

Pour over 3.5 fl. oz. (100 ml) of vanilla drink. Leave to soak in the refrigerator overnight or for at least 3 hours.

When the chia seeds are swollen, layer the portions in a glass and serve.

The toppings can be varied according to individual taste. Examples of a good fit are

  • cocoa nibs
  • hazelnuts
  • some fruit
  • nut butter
  • coconut or banana chips

The chia pudding is not only suitable for a sweet dessert, but can also be eaten for breakfast or as a sweet snack.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 tbsp. chia seeds 30 g
  • 1 tbsp. baking cocoa
  • 2 tsp. agave syrup or maple syrup
  • a few drops of natural vanilla aroma
  • 3.5 fl. oz. vegan vanilla drink 100 ml
  • 3.5 fl. oz. plant based milk e.g. coconut drink (100 ml)

Instructions

  • Put half of the chia seeds in a bowl and mix with the baking cocoa and the sweetness. Now add the plant based milk.
  • In a separate bowl, add the remaining chia seeds, a few drops of natural vanilla flavor and sweetness.
  • Pour over the vanilla drink. Leave to soak in the refrigerator overnight or for at least 3 hours.
  • When the chia seeds are swollen, layer the portions in a glass and serve.
  • Top as desired.
