Classic Hummus
If you’ve never tried it, you should definitely give it a try. Classic hummus goes well with bread or rolls, but also as a dip for vegetables & Co. it is super delicious!
Nowadays you can buy hummus in every supermarket. But often it does not taste so good to me and as it always is with purchased products, one should also keep a closer eye on the ingredient list, because there can sometimes be so many things in it that you do not want to have.
That’s why I prefer the homemade version. Best of all, it takes no more than 10 minutes to make your classic hummus!

Different Variations of Hummus
Hummus can be prepared not only in its classic variant, of course, there are countless possibilities to vary here. You could add beet to the hummus, for example, those who like it a little spicier, can also add chili peppers or now in the fall hummus with pumpkin would also be quite suitable.
Why Is Hummus Healthy?
The main ingredient in any hummus are chickpeas. These belong to the legumes. They are considered an important source of protein, especially in vegetarian and vegan diets. In fact, they contain more protein than meat. In addition, they have a lot of fiber, which keeps us full for a long time and blood sugar levels do not rise.
How Do I Prepare the Classic Hummus?
First, remove the chickpeas from the can, put them in a colander and rinse thoroughly under water.
Squeeze the lemon. Remove the garlic clove from the skin and chop it coarsely.
Now put the tahini together with the chickpeas, the lemon juice, the garlic clove and the spices in a blender and puree until creamy.

Then add a small (!) shot of water, because otherwise the hummus would be too dry. Push the mass down from the blender walls and puree again until creamy. Here I would recommend to test it with a little water first, before you use too much and the mass becomes too wet.
When everything is creamy, you can remove the hummus from the blender. Done!
